Regulatory Green is one of the most important issues that Jobbers face today. Agencies in many states identify accusations against the coatings industry as being their #1 concern, and recognize the political capital in going after them. Inattention to regulatory requirements may very well be a ticking time bomb because Jobbers are considered to be very easy targets.

Federal and state watchdogs have clearly been ratcheting up their regulatory actions. Even inadvertent violations of the maze of rules can be shockingly costly. Penalties can come in the form of fines and lawsuits (the FTC can seek fines of $16,000 a day and the EPA can seek fines of $37,500 a day for every violation).

The Hazardous Materials supply industry is changing dramatically and will become even more heavily regulated in the future. Suppliers who continue to operate without being Green compliant will invariably struggle. Lack of regulatory Green is not an option for Jobbers who want to stay in business and prosper. Today’s Jobbers need to be proactive and creative enough to change their sales process so they can be more profitable as well as Green compliant.  It just makes good business sense.

Don’t put the business and the reputation that you have worked years to build at risk. Take Green seriously, put a comprehensive Green advertising plan in place, and act quickly to address failures and deficiencies. Green certification will protect your assets, your employees, your customers and your good name.
